What happens if a Guest violated any traffic rules during their booking/Trip?
Depending on the guest's nationality and the issuing authority, TREVO will compensate you for any fines or summons incurred during a booking by recovering the costs from the guest.
Read on to find out exactly what you need to do!
Step 1: Check for summons regularly
TREVO will not notify you when a summon is issued — checking is the host's responsibility. Summons and fines are issued much later than the trip itself, so make it a habit to check the official portals regularly: MySikap for JPJ and MyBayar PDRM for police summons.
Step 2: Make a booking report in the TREVO app
- On the TREVO app, go to "Host".
- Find the booking that you'd like to report under "History" and tap on it.
- Scroll down until you see the "Report an Issue" button and tap it.
- Select "Summons".
- Upload relevant images by tapping the "+" button.
- Tap "Report".
You will receive an email containing step-by-step instructions on what to do next, along with the relevant supporting documents. Please expect this email within 5 to 15 minutes of submitting your booking report.
Step 3: Follow the instructions for your summon type
The next steps depend on who issued the summon and your guest's nationality.
Path A — Local council summon (e.g. MBPJ, DBKL, MBSJ) or a non-Malaysian guest: pay and claim
- Pay the summon.
- Reply directly to the same email thread and attach the official payment receipt.
For your reimbursement to be processed, the receipt must clearly state:
- Time of offense
- Number plate
- Payment status (e.g. Paid / Successful)
Note: for PDRM summons involving a non-Malaysian guest, PDRM does not accept nomination. The email from TREVO will tell you straight away — pay the summon and claim reimbursement as above.
Path B — PDRM or JPJ summon with a Malaysian guest: nomination (diversion)
TREVO does the paperwork for you. The instruction email will include:
- TREVO Booking and Guest Details (PDF)
- The JPJ or PDRM Nomination Form (PDF) with the guest's details
- Step-by-step submission instructions
Your part:
- Print your documents — everything attached in the email, plus a screenshot of your summon (from MySikap or MyBayar PDRM).
- Fill in your details — complete the host/nominee sections of the form. The guest's details are already filled in. If any guest information is missing (for example, a copy of the guest's IC for a PDRM submission), contact our live chat and we will provide it.
- Submit the nomination — send the completed form with your summon screenshot to the issuing authority as instructed in the email.
- Keep your confirmation — once the authority accepts the nomination, the summon is diverted to the guest and no payment is needed. Keep your submission receipt in case we ask for it.
If the nomination is rejected or you need help
Reply to the same email thread or reach out to our live chat. Our CS team will route your case to the Claims Team, who will escalate directly with PDRM/JPJ. If the escalation succeeds, the Claims Team pays you and recovers the cost from the guest.
Authority submission addresses
If mailing is required, send your documents to the issuing authority:
JPJ
Pusat Kawalan AwAS
P.O. Box 02080 Shah Alam
PDRM
Jabatan Siasatan Dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik
Ibu Pejabat Polis Diraja Malaysia
Bukit Aman, 50560 Kuala Lumpur
Important
Claims can get rejected for many reasons — which will be provided in our email to you. A common reason is when there's not enough evidence (such as photos) to support your claim. Without sufficient proof or documentation, we'll not be able to process your claim. We strongly recommend that you perform your own inspections before and after every booking by taking photos of your car's condition.
If you're not happy with the result of your claim, you'll need to reply to the same email thread and appeal. In most cases, our decision will be final. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more information regarding this.
