Fuel Reimbursement Update under BUDI95
Malaysia has officially rolled out BUDI95 (Budi Madani RON95), a targeted fuel subsidy scheme. Under BUDI95, eligible Malaysians pay RM1.99 per litre for RON95, compared to the unsubsidised rate of RM2.60 per litre. Each eligible user receives a monthly quota of 300 litres under the subsidy.
Because BUDI95 changes the effective cost of petrol, TREVO has updated the process for fuel reimbursement when Guests return vehicles with less fuel than at collection. This ensures fairness and clarity for all Hosts.
What Hosts Must Do When Fuel Is Lower on Return
In line with the TREVO Terms of Service:
Submit a booking report via the TREVO app if a Guest returns your vehicle with less fuel.
Attach a clear picture of the fuel receipt together with the car’s number plate.
TREVO will calculate the reimbursement using the actual fuel price you paid (from your receipt) and the volume of missing fuel.
- This means if you are eligible under BUDI95, your reimbursement will follow the subsidised rate (RM1.99/L).- If you are not eligible, the reimbursement will reflect the unsubsidised price shown on your receipt (RM2.60/L).
You will be reimbursed for the “missing fuel” amount accordingly.
Example Scenario: Myvi (8-Bar Gauge)
Car: Perodua Myvi
Tank capacity: 36 litres
Gauge: 8 bars total
If a Guest begins with 8 bars (full) and returns with 4 bars, here’s how we calculate:
36 L ÷ 8 bars = 4.5 L per bar
4 bars × 4.5 L = 18 litres missing
Receipt price: RM1.99/L
18 × RM1.99 = RM35.82 reimbursement
You simply submit your receipt with the booking report → TREVO verifies → you’re reimbursed RM35.82.
Best Practices for Hosts
Always keep recent fuel receipts for your vehicle.
Ensure Guest Verification Photos clearly show fuel meter levels at both collection and return (as required in the Terms of Service).
File your booking report and receipt promptly if fuel is short.
Guests are contractually obliged to return vehicles with the same fuel level. If they fail to do so, they are liable for reimbursement to the Host.
